    Botanical Name: Commiphora myrrha

    Plant Part: Resin

    Country of Origin: France

    Method of Extraction: Steam Distillation

Myrrh essential oil. The plant material originates in Somalia, distilled in France. Smoky and slightly musky aroma.

Myrrh is antiseptic, astringent, deodorant, disinfectant and diuretic and is one of the most renowned incenses along with frankincense. It is thought to enhance spirituality and may be used either in an oil burner or inhaled directly. It's particularly valuable for people who feel stuck emotionally or spiritually and want to move forward in their lives. Seems to lift feelings of weakness, apathy and lack of incentive and also has a cooling effect on heated emotions.

Due to its drying action is effective against excessive mucous in the lungs. Recommended in cases of bronchitis, colds, sore throats, and coughs. Excellent for mouth and gum disorders; it is the best treatment for mouth ulcers, gingivitis and bleeding or spongy gums. Eases flatulence and hemorrhoids. Stimulates and invigorates the immune system. Of great benefit in cases of scanty periods, leucorrhea and clearing obstructions in the womb.

The efficacy of myrrh for the treatment of chronic wounds and ulcers is legendary. This is due to its antiseptic, astringent, anti-inflammatory and antiphlogistic properties. It is specially valuable for wounds that are slow to heal and for weepy eczema and athlete's foot. Blends well with clove, frankincense, lavender and sandalwood. Not recommended to be used during pregnancy. Flash point: 200F.

This oil reminds me of sandalwood, but with a more mineral, pleasant earthy smell. It blends with just about everything and helps the scent linger longer/better. It's a very rich scent on its own and it stands on its own well if you want something masculine that is more unique than a typical musky smell. It has more notes and variances. I love it! It mellows out some of the more medicinal sharpness of oils like rosemary or frankincense.
    Mystic myrrh

This oil has one of the noblest scents I’ve ever smelled. It smells resinous and thick, like rich oil with some dark and smoky notes. Over that, there’s a touch of sharp lemony notes. This oil is deep and complex and smells luxurious. I imagine a little jewel box scented with that oil. Myrrh has a sacred vibe, something mystic and bewitching that makes me feel like I’m in the tales of the One Thousand and One Nights.
    Very good.

After a year of searching and experimenting with various myrrh oils from other suppliers, I believe I have finally found "the real thing". This is an incredibly complex and yet soothingly well-rounded myrrh. When you open the bottle, you will feel your body and soul relax and give in to the truly heavenly aroma of this prized scent. At last I feel that I know why this is such a precious oil. Do not look any further if you want the perfect myrrh oil, both for its olfactory and skin-healing properties.

The scent is softer than I expected, but still lovely. The oil is thicker, as it should be, and a very good quality.

This is such soft and lovely EO. The longer it sits, the deeper the scent. I bought it mainly for it's skin healing properties, but will also add to perfumes for the deeper notes.
    Nice myrrh

This is a true steam-distilled oil; many sold as distilled are dark solvent extracts. Lovely warm scent with good tenacity, this one lacks some of the harsher and more plastic-y aspects of some myrrh oils, this one is more spicy-balsamic. Myrrh in general is incredible for healing wounds and infections. Good value, as usual.

    HOW PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED...

    BOTTLING/PACKAGING:

Essential oils: Are sold only in the quantities/net weights listed on our website. These oils are shipped to us by the distiller or manufacturer in industry-standard metal or plastic containers and that’s how we ship them to you.

Carrier oils and most other liquids are dispensed in individual HDPE plastic pails or containers with some type of handle, each container holds the purchased net weight of liquid.

Soft butters such as Horsetail and Almond are dispensed in plastic HDPE pails w/metal handles; those butters may remain inside the pails indefinitely when properly stored. Hard butters such as Cocoa are dispensed factory-wrapped in plastic and placed inside a box. Castile Gel is dispensed in a self-contained cubitainer with pouring spout.

NOTE: While the packaging methods mentioned above are generalized, we reserve the right to dispense and ship in any available container. If a customer at any time feels more comfortable transferring an essential or carrier oil to glass, this should be done.

Raw materials/ingredients are sold and dispensed by weight. Many customers ask how many ounces are in a pound, there are 16 ounces in one pound. These are not fluid ounces, they are ounces by weight.

HOW TO STORE: EOs, FOs and BUTTERS should be stored in tightly-sealed containers away from direct light and heat. Some EOs and FOs could be highly flammable, keep away from open flames and from varnished or wood surfaces. Keep all liquids and powders you purchase from Camden-Grey tightly capped and away from the reach of children, the elderly or infirm and pets. Refrigerating butters could adversely affect the consistency of a butter, please join our Forum if you need to learn how to handle, work with and store products.
