    Botanical Name: Pogostemon patchouli

    Plant Part: Leaf

    Country of Origin: Indonesia

    Method of Extraction: Steam Distillation

Patchouli provides an earthy, smoky, spicy and musky scent. Its color ranges from amber to dark brown, will vary from batch to batch.  Due to its strong astringent and cicatrizant properties, may be helpful for loose skin, especially after dieting, used in many anti-wrinkle products.

In Jeanne Rose’s very instructive book “375 Essential Oils and Hydrosols” she mentions the following:

“Great in skin care as it regulates cellular tissue, indicated for all aspect of the skin, especially old skin. Also useful for acne and seborrheic eczema. Patchouli is one of the most important and valuable raw materials of the perfume trade. Very good in all soaps and cosmetics.”

“This is one EO that benefits from long storage.  After long storage, even up to 20 years, the fragrance deepens and becomes rich and alluring.”

Its diuretic properties are useful in massages in cases of fluid retention and cellulite. Well known to increase libido, considered an aphrodisiac. Relieves effects from insect bites, protects clothes from moths. It is known as a tissue regenerator which helps stimulate regrowth of skin cells and the forming of scar tissue. Heals rough, cracked skin. Useful for treating acne, eczema, fungal infections and scalp disorders including dandruff.

Blends well with black pepper, clary sage, frankincense, geranium, lavender and myrrh. Flash point: 215F.  (This EO contains a minimum 34% Patchouli Alcohol or Patchoulol.)

I use Patchouli as a foundation base note in many blends. It is a go-to for me. I like to play with this, try new things. It doesn't smell as rich as hippie patchouli incense. Good for making woody scents, but can be used in other kinds of blends too.

This Patchouli is dreamy! The scent anchors great in soaps. The essential oils has a sticky think syrup kind of consistency and is a caramel like brown. I will buy this again.
    Great Patchouli

I am used to dark patchouli, this is lighter and the scent is also not as potent, but still an excellent patchouli. You cannot tell the difference between a light and dark patchouli in soap, so I prefer to buy this patchouli for the price. My patchouli loving customers say my soaps are the best!

I received a sample of this product and it was just heavenly!!!! I cannot wait to order this, I have been waiting for a while for it to be back on stock. I agree with the other's review that you don't need a lot of this, a few drops will take you a long way.
    Don't have to use much

I'm very happy with how long a bottle of this patchouli EO lasts and the fact that it's that classic patchouli scent my customers look for. A little goes a long way. I'm always hesitant to make patchouli soap because it seems so expensive, but again, a little goes far. I made a batch of lavender, patchouli, and rosemary soap and sold every single one.

Camden-Grey's Patchouli is my favorite, earthy Patchouli essential oil for my cold process soaps. I use it alone, blended with Orange & Cedarwood, and add it at 10% to almost all of my EO blends to help ground other scents and keep them from fading. It has never accelerated any of my soap recipes.

This is an excellent patchouli. I use patchouli in my soaps a lot and the price and quality of this oil are the best. Blends great with rose or florals. Not to earthy, musky. Perfect.
    Don't need too much

For those who haven't used patchouli EO before . . . order now! Great for blends, it adds a very pleasant warm and flowery base note. It is a very strong EO, so use sparingly! (one drop can change the whole blend). Great price, and comparable quality to other suppliers.
    very nice

    HOW PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED...

    BOTTLING/PACKAGING:

Essential oils: Are sold only in the quantities/net weights listed on our website. These oils are shipped to us by the distiller or manufacturer in industry-standard metal or plastic containers and that’s how we ship them to you.

Carrier oils and most other liquids are dispensed in individual HDPE plastic pails or containers with some type of handle, each container holds the purchased net weight of liquid.

Soft butters such as Horsetail and Almond are dispensed in plastic HDPE pails w/metal handles; those butters may remain inside the pails indefinitely when properly stored. Hard butters such as Cocoa are dispensed factory-wrapped in plastic and placed inside a box. Castile Gel is dispensed in a self-contained cubitainer with pouring spout.

NOTE: While the packaging methods mentioned above are generalized, we reserve the right to dispense and ship in any available container. If a customer at any time feels more comfortable transferring an essential or carrier oil to glass, this should be done.

Raw materials/ingredients are sold and dispensed by weight. Many customers ask how many ounces are in a pound, there are 16 ounces in one pound. These are not fluid ounces, they are ounces by weight.

HOW TO STORE: EOs, FOs and BUTTERS should be stored in tightly-sealed containers away from direct light and heat. Some EOs and FOs could be highly flammable, keep away from open flames and from varnished or wood surfaces. Keep all liquids and powders you purchase from Camden-Grey tightly capped and away from the reach of children, the elderly or infirm and pets. Refrigerating butters could adversely affect the consistency of a butter, please join our Forum if you need to learn how to handle, work with and store products.
