(9/9/22) Sold by weight. Our Polysorbate 20 (polyoxyethylene [20] sorbitan monolaurate) is derived from Corn derivatives, Palm kernel oil derivatives and synthetics.  This is a non-toxic, nonionic surfactant/emulsifier and a water-soluble liquid used as a dispersing agent which allows oil and water to mix without the use of alcohol. It is a fragrance solubilizer and stabilizer; lubricates and has a soothing effect on the skin.

This skin- safe ingredient is used extensively in oil-in-water emulsions (lotions, conditioners, cream rinses, shampoos, liquid soaps, body polishes or scrubs, etc.) and also for body mists and linen sprays. Is found as an ingredient in the majority of body toiletries, cosmetics and wipes now on the market. Polysorbates are generally used in combination with other emulsifiers such as mono- and diglycerides or sorbitan monostearates for various purposes such as to disperse flavors and colors, to make essential oils and vitamins soluble and to improve volume and texture in baked goods. Use Polysorbate 20 when very little foaming action (or none at all) is desired in the finished product. This product is not food grade.

Start with a ratio of 1:1. For example, for every ounce of essential or fragrance oil mix with one ounce of Polysorbate 20. It is extremely important to mix well. Then add enough distilled water to allow you to make your blend or product. If the results are still too cloudy for you, you may need to increase the Polysorbate 20 to 3 parts to 1 or 4 parts to 1. Sometimes, the denser the oil the more Polysorbate 20 you will need. Remember to always try out linen sprays on a very small area first to see if the mixture affects the linens! INCI: Polysorbate 20.

Here are some guidelines: If using 2 oz. of distilled water add 5 drops of essential oils for a facial spray, add 20 drops of essential oils for a body spray, add 30 drops for a linen spray, and add 50 drops for a room spray. Feel free to adjust these proportions to suit your preference.

RECIPE--BODY MIST: 7 oz. Vodka, 1 oz. polysorbate 20, 10 drops Geranium Essential Oil, 10 drops Lemon Essential Oil. Mix the essential oils with Polysorbate 20 and add to the Vodka. Let it sit at least 24 hours. Should the product be slightly cloudy, add 1 more ounce of Vodka and 1/2 oz. more of Polysorbate 20. You may vary the essential oils (or fragrance oils) to your preference. You may double or triple this recipe.

This polysorbate does not contain any animal ingredients, is not tested on animals and is free of GMOs. Country of origin: Mexico.  INCI: Polysorbate 20.

I use this in combination with Poly80 for blending oils and water. Works great, however you'll have to play with quantities to achieve a clear product.
    Great emulsifier

I use this to blend EOs and FOs into water or with hazel for body room and linen sprays along with Polysorbate 80. Works great!

I'm still learning how to use this, but so far it's gone into a perfumed bath oil and a scented aftershave balm. Works great for making essential oils soluble in water and makes it easier to wash carrier oils off skin when needed. Warning: makes an effective ink and gum remover, so don't get it on the label the polysorbate 20 comes in.

    HOW PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED...

    BOTTLING/PACKAGING:

Essential oils: Are sold only in the quantities/net weights listed on our website. These oils are shipped to us by the distiller or manufacturer in industry-standard metal or plastic containers and that’s how we ship them to you.

Carrier oils and most other liquids are dispensed in individual HDPE plastic pails or containers with some type of handle, each container holds the purchased net weight of liquid.

Soft butters such as Horsetail and Almond are dispensed in plastic HDPE pails w/metal handles; those butters may remain inside the pails indefinitely when properly stored. Hard butters such as Cocoa are dispensed factory-wrapped in plastic and placed inside a box. Castile Gel is dispensed in a self-contained cubitainer with pouring spout.

NOTE: While the packaging methods mentioned above are generalized, we reserve the right to dispense and ship in any available container. If a customer at any time feels more comfortable transferring an essential or carrier oil to glass, this should be done.

Raw materials/ingredients are sold and dispensed by weight. Many customers ask how many ounces are in a pound, there are 16 ounces in one pound. These are not fluid ounces, they are ounces by weight.

HOW TO STORE: EOs, FOs and BUTTERS should be stored in tightly-sealed containers away from direct light and heat. Some EOs and FOs could be highly flammable, keep away from open flames and from varnished or wood surfaces. Keep all liquids and powders you purchase from Camden-Grey tightly capped and away from the reach of children, the elderly or infirm and pets. Refrigerating butters could adversely affect the consistency of a butter, please join our Forum if you need to learn how to handle, work with and store products.
