    Botanical Name: Santalum Austro-Caledonicum

    Plant Part: Wood

    Country of Origin: New Caledonia

    Method of Extraction: Steam Distillation

Santalum album. India and Indonesia are the two major producers and exporters of sandalwood oil. Sandalwood is native to Ceylon, India, Indonesia and their surrounding islands. The oil is an excellent base and fixative for other high grade perfumes. By itself it is a mild, long-lasting sweet perfume, but the perfume industry finds that it can blend well with other perfumes and does not impart its fragrance when used as a base. There are numerous products that use sandalwood oil.

Sandalwood oil is slightly thick, has a long shelf life and will actually get better as it ages. It has a characteristic sweet, woody odor which is widely employed in the fragrance industry, but more particularly in the higher-priced perfumes. It has excellent blending properties and the presence of a large proportion of high-boiling constituents in the oil (about 90 % santalols) also makes it valuable as a fixative for other fragrances. In India it is used in this manner for the manufacture of traditional attars such as rose attar; the delicate floral oils are distilled directly into sandalwood oil. Blends well with neroli, sweet orange, rose and benzoin. Flashpoint: 200F.

This oil is splendid! It transports me to a magical world. I feel like travelling on a flying carpet, in the tales of the One Thousand and One Nights. It’s deep and complex. It has a warm creamy and suave wood scent that makes me fall in grace. It’s noble and majestic, slightly powdery. It is sooo beautiful. It is by far my favorite essential oil.

Nice fragrance! Sandalwood oils is quite a thick consistency! Takes time and patience to get a few drops out of the bottle but well worth the wait. Using in a facial serum.
    Best sandalwood EO

This is the best sandalwood essential oil that I have ever had the pleasure to smell. As usual, Camden-Grey's quality is outstanding. I love that we can get things like this for less because Camden-Grey doesn't have fancy packaging. (Their packaging and shipping is VERY careful, though.)
    Hands down the best

This oil is one of my favorites to make therapeutic blends with. It is a great fixative and adds a wood and musk scent that you will find to be very calming to the spirit. Usually you find sandalwood at high prices and inferior grades. Not the case here. A must have! Thank you CG!!

This is by far the BEST oil that my nose has ever had the pleasure of being introduced to! I actually travel with this inside of my purse. When I get a little overwhelmed at work, I take a quick whiff of this and everything is good with the world again. I use it on my skin straight out of the bottle, and I dilute it with water in a spray bottle for a moisturizing hair spritz. This is my signature scent, and I never see myself parting with it. Worth the cash!
    Truly 1 of the best!!

I like this particular Sandalwood oil. It is genuine and is good for therapeutic use, unlike the Australian type. Australian Sandalwood is a related species and the oil is of inferior quality. This new Caledonia oil is genuine, since their plantations are well-controlled. I am thrilled that you now have this great oil.

I wasn't sure I wanted to introduce sandalwood into my line or my life. It's pricey and I'm aware of its scarcity. I've found, to my delight, I need so little of Camden-Grey's Caledonia sandalwood to get that wonderfully unique effect. My most recent indulgence is a dab of rose and sandalwood on my wrists. Again, so little is necessary and the scent just envelops me, does not fade. The same combo with ylang ylang in rose water on my hair--don't even get me started!

    HOW PRODUCTS ARE DISPENSED...

    BOTTLING/PACKAGING:

Essential oils: Are sold only in the quantities/net weights listed on our website. These oils are shipped to us by the distiller or manufacturer in industry-standard metal or plastic containers and that’s how we ship them to you.

Carrier oils and most other liquids are dispensed in individual HDPE plastic pails or containers with some type of handle, each container holds the purchased net weight of liquid.

Soft butters such as Horsetail and Almond are dispensed in plastic HDPE pails w/metal handles; those butters may remain inside the pails indefinitely when properly stored. Hard butters such as Cocoa are dispensed factory-wrapped in plastic and placed inside a box. Castile Gel is dispensed in a self-contained cubitainer with pouring spout.

NOTE: While the packaging methods mentioned above are generalized, we reserve the right to dispense and ship in any available container. If a customer at any time feels more comfortable transferring an essential or carrier oil to glass, this should be done.

Raw materials/ingredients are sold and dispensed by weight. Many customers ask how many ounces are in a pound, there are 16 ounces in one pound. These are not fluid ounces, they are ounces by weight.

HOW TO STORE: EOs, FOs and BUTTERS should be stored in tightly-sealed containers away from direct light and heat. Some EOs and FOs could be highly flammable, keep away from open flames and from varnished or wood surfaces. Keep all liquids and powders you purchase from Camden-Grey tightly capped and away from the reach of children, the elderly or infirm and pets. Refrigerating butters could adversely affect the consistency of a butter, please join our Forum if you need to learn how to handle, work with and store products.
